Manhattan projectSummary: This is a letter written by Albert Einstien letting FDR no that the project is running smoothly and that atomic energy is a real thing. Some physicists at the time did not believe einstiens ideas of nueclear fission and fusion.
Significance: Enstiens letter may not have been that significant but it did conferm that fact that the atomic energy dicovered by the Manhattan project would become a valid use of energy for industrial and military purposes. Furthermore we are able to come to the conclusion that this letter shattered any rumors or consperoucy theories about atomic energy at the time. If Enstien had not sent the this letter the atomic bomb and nuculear energy may not have been in US control. The Nazi's could have used Enstien instead of the US. Robert Ellingson |
