Summary: This political poster was mainly used during the Revolution as a flag for the un-organized, and not unified Americans. The rebels needed a universal flag to distinguish themselves from the british soldiers, and this was one of the ones that they used before creating the iconic 13-starred flag used for the rest of the war and years after until the american colonists expanded their territory thus adding more stars to the flag.
Significance: This poster/flag motivated some of the colonists to join the war effort. It created a patriotic way of thinking among the people. Without this, soldiers fighting in the Revolutionary war wouldn't have been able to tell friend from foe when fighting. Author: Tristan KembleMyers |
